Anatomical Illustration Services

Through our affiliation with the Evidence Store in Union New Jersey, we have access to the entire Frank Netter, M.D. Atlas of Human Anatomy on CD.

Unlike some who will try to just make a color copy from the book, we are able to produce full resolution images from the CD and print them out. We can also turn off any or all of the callouts or legends and their lead lines so that only the callouts or legends that are pertinent to your case are displayed.

Typically, we produce 30” x 40” illustrations mounted on foamboard so you can present them to the jury in a manner that allows all of them to see what you want them to see. And unlike passing around a small illustration, a situation in which you loose all control over what the individual jurors look at; with the large illustration you control where they are looking by directing their attention where you want it.

A Word About Anatomical Models

If you need anatomical models to illustrate your client's case, we have the best. The models we offer are crafted by the artisans at Somso in Germany.

These models are recognized as being among the most realistic and life-like in the industry, and they are the quality typically used in fine medical schools.

Whether you need a full skeleton, articulated joints, or a specialty item like the "take-apart" model of the vertebrae with removable discs to demonstrate various types of herniation, we can rent them to you on a weekly basis or sell them to you.

If you need a model that we don’t have in stock, we typically have had special models shipped in within about a week. Many of our models rent for only $50 per week.

I have found that the key to successful architectural photography lies in finding the angle and the lighting that provide the most dramatic representation of the building.

While this can often be done during daylight hours, I have found that there is a “magic lighting” that occurs at twilight, when the sky still has some deep blue or purple tone, clouds may take on a red or orange hue, and all of the interior and exterior lights are on.

By this time of the evening, most other photographers have packed their equipment, and they are at home eating dinner, but I am getting my best shots at this hour.

My Style of Photographing Bar and Bat Mitzvahs

When photographing a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, my goal is to create the kind of images that your family, your children and your grandchildren will cherish. Yet, at the same time, I respect the fact that you and your family will spend a great deal of time planning the event the way you want it.

I'm sure you have been to Bar/Bat Mitzvahs where the photographer has taken control and tried to run everything, constantly telling people where to stand and what to do. I don't like that any more than you do!

You may have also seen some of the "instant experts" who have purchased the latest automatic cameras and now proclaim themselves to be "photographers," even though they know very little about posing, lighting, or how certain lighting conditions can fool the automation in their cameras.

I have been photographing Bar/Bat Mitzvahs for about 20 years. While the photojournalistic style of photography is what comes naturally to me, I offer a unique blend of the modern photojournalistic style and the traditional style, using both styles during the event, as different situations dictate the use of each of the different styles. I am one of the few photographers these days who still takes the time to set up studio lighting for the formals and during the party, if these photographs are taken indoors or under a tent. I use the highest quality professional lighting techniques for your photographs.

Some people have asked about digital images. I recommend film for the most important photographs because of the higher image quality; however, you may select from either:

  1. All Film Coverage
  2. All Digital Coverage
  3. Combination Film and digital Coverage.

This allows you to select between the enduring quality of film negatives, the more versatile digital image, or the combined benefits of both.

Either way, I deliver all of the images to you. I also recommend that all film negatives be scanned at the time of processing (before there is any chance for fingerprints, scratches, or dust to degrade the photos.) This will provide you with digital scans that can be used for all of your routine printing; while preserving the negatives as an archival record.

A special note: Many temples will allow the Torah to be removed from the Ark for posed photographs either before or after the ceremony. If this is not allowed on the Shabbat at your temple, let me know in advance. I will make arrangements to go to the temple on a different day to take the posed photographs.

Civil Evidence Support

Having served more than twenty years as a medical photographer in a hospital setting, I am highly qualified in this photographic speciality.

Drawing on this background, I am very familiar with how important symmetry and range-of-motion are to your case. I will routinely ask clients to demonstrate how their range-of-motion has been impacted by their injuries so I can show that limitation in the photographs.

Serving most of New York State as well as parts of Pennsylvania and Ohio, at Royal Photography and The Evidence Store of Rochester, we offer high quality evidence photography and medical photography at a reasonable price.

For most cases, we do not even attempt to do the job with simple "on-camera" lighting. We have created a special set-up of studio lighting specifically to image scars, burns, "road rash", dog bites, and a variety of other injuries.

When needed, we can take this lighting is taken on location and set up in the client's home or apartment. We use an assortment of different measuring scales which were designed specifically to demonstrate the size of evidence in photographs.

If photographs need to be taken of a client while still in the hospital, we are aware of the limitations dictated by the setting, and can still produce photographs with good lighting and attention to detail.

We can also photograph products for liability cases, as well as vehicles, accident scenes, and construction sites. We can also make arrangements for videography and photomicroscopy, when needed.
